Texas, USA, has introduced a groundbreaking bill proposing the adoption of Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset for the state government. Titled the ‘Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act’, the legislation would enable residents to pay taxes and administrative fees in Bitcoin, which the state would hold for a minimum of five years.
The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Giovanni Capriglione, highlighted Bitcoin’s decentralized nature and finite supply as tools to protect against inflation and economic instability. Notably, the proposal does not authorize the state to directly purchase Bitcoin.
This initiative is not limited to Texas. Following a similar bill introduced in Pennsylvania last month, the pro-Bitcoin organization *Satoshi Action Fund* revealed that over ten other states are preparing comparable measures.
As the second-largest economy in the U.S. and home to the highest concentration of Bitcoin mining companies, Texas’s move is being seen as a significant step toward accelerating cryptocurrency adoption and fostering broader market growth.
