Senior executives from Shinhan Financial Group recently affirmed blockchain’s pivotal role in driving financial innovation during the Korea–Japan Financial Cooperation Seminar. Chaired by Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan, the event gathered leaders from Japanese financial regulators, academic institutes, and regional development agencies to explore sustainable finance and digital bonds.
In his keynote, Chairman Jin highlighted Shinhan’s pioneering role in ESG-aligned finance by introducing the group’s Green Transition Finance Guidelines, which set a precedent in the domestic financial sector. He emphasized blockchain’s potential to enhance transparency and operational efficiency across financial markets. Japan’s Financial Services Agency also expressed its commitment to strengthening cooperation on cross-border digital finance.
The seminar underscored blockchain’s transformative potential—not only as a technological innovation but also as a strategic driver for sustainable, cross-border finance. Moving forward, the establishment of clear legal and regulatory frameworks will be crucial to balance innovation with transparency and stability.
