The Court Administration Voiced Against Allowing Patent Agents to Represent Clients in Court

On May 24, the Korean Bar Association and the Regional Bar Association co-hosted a symposium on the unconstitutionality of patent agents’ co-representation of clients in court. Partner attorney Sangjin Cha, who is the president of the Korean Association of Patent Attorneys, stated, “It is unacceptable to allow patent agents to legally represent clients in court. The benefits of doing so are hard to believe.” He added, “The hasty legislation on this matter is deeply worrisome, especially since the National Court Administration, which operates the judicial system, has also voiced against patent agents’ co-representation of clients in court.” [Law Leader 2022-05-25]
