Global crypto exchange Binance has officially cleared South Korea’s National Assembly audit following its acquisition of Gopax, a local exchange approved by the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
However, the hearing raised lingering concerns over potential preferential treatment, money-laundering risks, and data-protection issues.
Regulators and lawmakers emphasized the need for stronger oversight and compliance, while experts noted that if Binance successfully adapts to Korea’s strict financial rules, it could help break Upbit’s long-held market dominance and improve user protection and market competition.
