Last month, domestic coin deposit companies faced controversy when they suddenly suspended accepting deposits and withdrawals. "Under the current law, coin deposit services are not required to register as virtual asset service providers(VASPs)," said Kwon Oh-hoon, a partner at the Cha & Kwon Law Offices. He added, "Although some companies have registered as virtual asset wallet service providers, their deposit services have not been verified, creating a regulatory gap."
