Review of a Sponsorship Agreement for an Overseas Arts and Cultural Event
Service area
C&K Law Offices advised an organization participating in an international cultural event held overseas on the review of a sponsorship agreement to be entered into with the overseas event organizer.
Under the agreement, the sponsor was to receive various sponsorship benefits, including participation in the event, promotional opportunities, and the hosting of side events, in exchange for the payment of a sponsorship fee. It was therefore important to clarify the parties’ rights and the allocation of costs in the event of changes to or non-provision of the agreed benefits, or changes to or cancellation of the event.
Accordingly, C&K Law Offices revised the relevant provisions so that substitute benefits or an adjustment or refund of the sponsorship fee would be available if sponsorship benefits were not provided, and provided that any changes to or cancellation of the event would be settled based on costs actually incurred. In this way, we reviewed and revised the contractual terms to prevent the sponsor from bearing an excessive burden. We also revised key provisions concerning intellectual property, termination, damages, and dispute resolution.
C&K Law Offices provides legal advice on English-language contracts in the fields of international events and arts and culture, reviewing contractual rights, obligations, and key risks, and preparing contractual terms that protect the client’s interests.
