FSC Reaffirms Ban on Bitcoin Spot ETFs, Allows Futures Trading
South Korean financial authorities are reiterating a ban on domestic firms brokering or issuing bitcoin spot ETFs due to concerns about violating government stances and capital market laws. While U.S. cases can't be directly applied, trading in overseas Bitcoin futures ETFs is still permitted. The authorities commit to close communication with the industry. South Korean securities firms had already stopped brokering non-U.S. Bitcoin spot ETFs, with some, like KB Securities, also banning bitcoin futures ETFs and spot purchases.
