Upbit Refunds $5 Million to Voice Phishing Victims, Enhances Fraud Prevention Efforts
Dunamu, the operator of Upbit cryptocurrency exchange, refunded $5 million to 246 victims of voice phishing from 2017 to 2022. Collaborating with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department and the National Police Agency, Upbit utilized its Fraud Detection System (FDS) to prevent fraudulent transactions and froze damages, ensuring quick refunds to victims. Upbit continues to employ AI-powered FDS to monitor abnormal transactions in real-time, safeguarding user assets totaling KRW 120 billion.
