Police to Establish Standardized Procedures for Seizing and Managing Cryptocurrencies Amid Rising Cy
To combat the rise in cryptocurrency-related crimes, the police will establish standard procedures for seizing and managing cryptocurrency. The National Police Agency's National Investigation Division is studying a standard management model for virtual assets. The increase in crimes like hacking, phishing, online gambling, drug trafficking, and financial fraud underscores the need for these procedures. Currently, the police manage virtual assets, but a more systematic approach is needed. The study will review domestic and international policies, analyze relevant laws, and examine local and international asset management practices. By December, the police will finalize procedures for freezing, seizing, storing, and transferring virtual assets. In collaboration with crypto exchanges, standardized procedures are expected in the first half of next year.
