Disclosure of Foreign Investors’ Short Selling Violations (Updated Jan 2023)
In the event of illicit short selling, a proposal to reveal the names of foreign financial investors will go into effect in February of this year.
Early in December of last year, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) stated that starting in February of this year, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) will reveal the identities of the companies and specifics of the punishments for rules violations such as short selling and market disruption.
Corporations and individuals who incur fines or penalties from the 22nd Securities and Futures Commission, which was established last month, are subject to disclosure. Only domestic firms and investors were previously subject to the measure.
