Foreign Exchange Market Operation Hours Extended—And Numerous Other Changes

In order to allow international investors to directly engage in the local foreign currency market, the government will bring changes to the system and extend the operating hours of the foreign exchange market until 2 am starting in the second half of next year.

Only financial institutions that have received government approval are permitted to trade in the domestic foreign currency market, and international financial institutions must have branches in Korea. This will be altered to let foreign financial institutions with overseas locations participate in the Korean foreign exchange market.
