Revamped System Allows Prosecutors to Swiftly Return Confiscated Crypto Assets
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Korea has enhanced the process of returning confiscated crypto assets. Previously, investigators had to use personal accounts, but now they utilize a corporate account to sell assets and withdraw Korean won. This system aims to expedite the return of criminal proceeds, selling around 1 billion won worth of assets since November. With about 100 types of virtual assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, valued at 27 billion won, this streamlined approach facilitates the efficient return of criminal proceeds, addressing the growing use of virtual assets in illegal activities.
